US Secretary of State Marco Rubio toured Jaipur’s Amber Fort with wife Jeanette Rubio during his India visit ahead of the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting.

Medical services at outpatient departments (OPD), Indoor Patients (IPD) and even the emergency ward remained suspended in about 200 private hospitals in the state capital due to the stir call given by the Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (PHNHA) on Thursday.

The stir affected thousands of patients seeking treatment. This also put extra burden of outdoor patients at around 15 government hospitals. The hospitals in the city collectively record OPD turnout of around 40,000.

To provide medical care and treatment to maximum possible needy patients the state government authorities have strengthened their services, ordering extended outdoor patient services. The OPDs will open in two morning evening shifts so that the extra rush of patients could be dealt with.
PHNHA sources said the association was forced to take harsh move of indefinite medical shut-down in protest against roughing up and misbehaviour with the father and other relatives of Dr Sondev Bansal by a group of lawyers and the onlookers, in the court premises.
Dr Bansal was arrested in an old case involving irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Service (RGHS) related cases. The court was hearing Dr Bansal’s bail please those were deferred until May 11 following the incident of face-off and misbehaviour.
The shut-down would be extended across the state, if, stern action is not taken against the guilty, the sources said adding “The Indian Medical Association and Jaipur Medical Association also support.
